Default Muffler to close to tail shaft?

Just put in a new front Muffler on my VR and it is around 1cm away from the Tailshaft. Is this normal? I have tried to adjust it to get more clearance but thats as far as i can get it. I have driven it around locally and find it doesn't hit the tailshaft but still seems abit close for my liking... Anyone else have this problem?

I have had some pretty close too, if it is near the rubber hangers, i wouldn't be concerned as it wont hit it. I know what you mean but, some things just play on your mind if they don't look 100%.

hmm it has just started to hit on something... its either the front muffler hitting on the tail shaft or the rear muffler hitting the tank.. i'll check it out and let you know

You can undo the clamp that holds the tail pipe to the front muffler, wedge something between the muffler and the tailshaft to get some clearance, then do the clamp up again.

    Done that too..

The tailpipe only has the 1 mounting bracket that 2 rubbers run from is that right or is mine missing a bracket?

    No, that is right.

The other thing you can try is loosen the clamp that joins the left and right engine pipes in front of the cat and lever the exhaust away from the tailshaft.

It is a common problem yes, and easily fixed. You mustn't be trying hard enough....hehe

Leave the rest of the system on and just remove the tail pipe. Grab the muffler and pull it HARD away from the tail shaft. When fitting the tail pipe again, push the muffler away from the tail shaft when doing up the clamp. It's only an exhaust, you won't break it.

Ok i tested it out today and it didn't hit the tail shaft at all. All i did was put the engine pipe in the vice and bend it a little. I doubt i bent it alot but it has obviously bent just enough so it no longer hits.... For now anyway
    Cheers Josh
