Hi,
I have a buggered dash cluster in my VR 5Ltr. I want to know how these are different to the V6 ones and to the VS V6 and V8 ones?
I think VS/VR ones are the same.. But the 6 and 8 are definitely different. Can't tell you how though sorry... I would assume it's something to do with the RPM sensors... Or perhaps water/oil temp, or oil pressure?
whats buggered on ur cluster or the whole thing dont work? when did it stop, if its all not working and it was, could be a wiring issue, if its just the speedo, could be a broke gear which is common.. care to elaborate "buggered"
V6 and V8 clusters are different, but can be modded to work.
yea sorry....bugered as... digital screens are fading or only half the numbers are coming up. speedo works good, temp and fuel work after the ol dash whack.
vr/s the same. V6 to v8 different as far as the tacho and i think the temp might read differntly i been told but you can swap your temp gauge into the new cluster. But a v6 will plug in and work, the tacho just reads out (which can be fixed easily see the how-to on here) and if its true the temp gauge will read a bit different.
But whats broke???
Edit: Just buy new/secondhand one off ebay. If its a v6 one then just swap you v8 tacho and temp gauge into it. Easy job no soldering. Just undo the screws to open it up and undo the brass nuts on the back of it to slip out each component.
Yea jst the L.C.D screen its in my 5Ltr Berlina. That sounds like a great plan.... Thanks for the heads up.
The fading numbers will be the mount tabs snapped off inside the white plastic fascia on the trip computer. The PCB is held in by 6 screws (into brittle plastic) and if any let go the pressure is off the LCD's and the numbers begin to fade on and off.
Replace trip computer or glue the bits of plastic back into place with arldite (must have all the plastic bits that have snapped off)
