Default should i have a low fuel light?

    g'day,

i've been wondering for a while whether my 96 vs ute has a low fuel light. i've had the fuel level under empty and the light did not come on. another vs i know which is a 96 has a beep and a low fuel light, but it did have that speed alert thing, which i dont have.

do the lights in the dash blow globes often? or do i just not have a low fuel light

im not sure if any other lights dont work in the dash either..

Have you ever heard a beep come from the dash?

There should be a fuel light and a beep.

I think the beep comes from the mode buttons but im not 100% on that.

It usually comes on when theres about 80km's left to go.

You can test the globe by turning the ignition to on, the reds should all come up indicating which ones are working.

base utes never had them....was only models fitted with either speed alert or trip computer that had the function.

mode buttons? dont have any haha.

my ute doesn't have a trip computer, but i dont see how that should stop a low fuel light from being there.

I have a Calais so it probably doesnt help, but I have a light & a beep, but they are on the dash, not on the speed alert section, so I dont believe its related to speed alert.

The dash comes out easy enough if you want to check the globe....

if its a basic (Exec-spec) ute then it won't have the low fuel light/chime. the chime is relayed through the speed alert module (for Exec/Acclaim/S/SS/Equipe/Esteem/Vacationer) and from the dash cluster itself on models fitted with the trip computer (Berlina/Calais/Statesman/Caprice/HSVs)
