Wanting to sell my VS Senator, have seen varied asking prices on them.
It's a 1996 185i Senator, leather seats, immaculate outside, 160xxxkm's, original owners compendium with EVERYTHING in it, service history, 3" catback with hot dog / rear resi, twin 3" flat edge tips, still on FE2 springs, serviced every 5000 religiously, tyres are all still the ones i bought it with (85 - 90% all round), stock stereo bar the 3 month old Alpine head unit, has had a Kalmaker ECU software upgrade (have receipts) which means any mods you do in the future will only cost you $150 an hour on the dyno for tune touch ups and has a 70MM polished TB.
Still has the stock Senator wheels. Runs great.
With a roady and 10 months rego, what's a reasonable asking price?

What happened?
Want an LS1. Over this 5 litre lack of power shit. Boring.

anyway on topic. I would say around $9 or $10k for the Senator...maybe a tad more if you got a keen buyer...
I paid $11,900 with NO roadworthy.
I will include a roadworthy.
I am after a full on sleeper. Ideally, a VX Calais LS1. I'll rip the GENIII badges off the side too, keep it stock ride height, stock Calais wheels etc.

The other option for buying an LS1 is buying one from NSW or SA and driving it back. They are considerably cheaper interstate.

I would take one, not in yellow though, and not on white Sigs.
Lol, **** that. With the money it would cost me to do that, i could buy a clean VX LS1 easily. Less hassle and headaches too. And a tonne less fart assing around. Then you gotta pay to get it all engineered. Equals one massive headache.
Well i was thinking of flying up to NSW or whatever IF i found the right car at the right price.

If i had the dosh i'd be all over it like a fat kid on a cup cake. Not keen on autos but for a genuine VS senator,i'd see past it. Beautiful car, worth every dollar, all 12,000 of them
WTB:VR/S HSV 250km/h speedo cluster
just remember that the prices for ls1's are getting very cheap so the problem is most people would look at your senator for 12k or an ls1 for the same price and go for the ls1.
you might do fine though, my brother sold his 5 speed vr senator last year for 10k and sold in less than 2 weeks, but being manual helped it heaps.

Yeah but my car for sale wouldn't be aimed at people who want power, it's aimed at people who want to buy a clean VS Senator
If people want power, they will buy an LS1, which is what i want to do.
Thanks for the comments guys, i think $10k - $11k is a suitable price.

I originally went for the aussie 5 litre just because it means something patriotic to me, but the power bug has bitten me after getting a foam tune and its hard to resist the call. Although I'd love to keep it and do it up, in order for me to be able to afford a VY onwards (not a fan of VT-VX), it would have to go.
Think i'll resist a little longer though... *grits teeth*
lol im pretty sure iv'e read dozens of posts by you saying that you'd never buy an ls1 and swear that a 5L's shit all over ls1's (not power wise) lol , anyway good on yah chasing the power and not having to spend 10 grand on your engine to get the same results as an ls1, senator is shit hot though. Ls1 prices in NSW are rediculously cheap i coulda picked one up with what i payed for my ecotec caprice.

I know the feeling man!!
Hahahaha yes, guilty as charged hahaha. Yeah i still think LS1's sound crap, well, they don't have much sound at all, but, i am getting over the sound factor of the 5 litre, which also doesn't leave much else. As i have been told all these years, LS1, easy power on tap when needed.

I have regretted selling old cars, wish I still had a couple of them, but was thinking the grass was greener in a new ride....![]()
My 5.7 Stroker Senator whips a stock LS1 auto anyday......
Oh and I payed just over $13k...Roady, Rego, 4 new tyres etc :-)
If I'm not pulling Toyota's out of the Bush, I'm pulling 12's in the Sig :-)
Nah, not stroking it. Haven't spent much on this car either. Would rather buy an LS1, pour some cash into that and be able to whip a stroked 304 block![]()
