ok this is probably the 3rd thread about my transmission issues, i swear its the last lol.
Ok well today driving home from tafe i noticed that my transmission seems to be slipping more and more often, as in i accelerate, the engine revs, but theres no movement.
So i get home today put it in 'p' and i check the oil, to my suprise it was bubbly? as in it had all these mini bubbles, does this just mean its low on tranny oil or is the whole thing on the way out? ive booked it in for a transmission check next week but wanted to see what you guys think.
Also ive noticed it is only slipping in 1st gear.
Thanks, Shane
hmm.. how big were the bubbles??
they were like little little bubbles mixed in the the transmission oil, they were spread out on the stick when i checked the level.
its had a very very small leak for a month or two yea, so thats probably a contribution
my cousin drove my car last night (his got like 30 commodores in hit backyard), and he thinks that it could be the fuel pump or maybe plugs etc. I'm hoping it is cause thats less money![]()
If the auto is slipping, I cant see it being the fuel pump, did he mean the pump in the auto maybe? The fact that the car revs with no movement would also point at transmission.
yea i didn't really describe myself properly....
the car doesnt rev it like dies for about 2-3 seconds then kicks in, like it doesnt rev or anything.
Also i notice that it only really starts to die off when i have under half a tank of petrol, when its full i have no problems.
I've actually looked into it and it only happens when i take turns or im taking off, it doesnt happen when im going 30km etc.
Process of Elimination.. Check all fuel lines for cracks abrasions pin holes etc... Fuel filter/ return line to tank not blocked or partialy blocked it can have a effect on internal tank pressure... may pay to take your fuel pick up and check for crap on the pick up as well....
Transmission, check your vacum line from manifold(if it has one ) smell the oil on the dip stick check for disclouration.. if its a dark brown colour, time for change.. check transmission breather. if the breather is blocked or Partialy blocked it will cause your trans to leak due to internal pressure build up.. (if its Vacum control'd it could allso be as simple as the humodulator ( drivers side rear of trans, small vacum unit screw into rear of trans.. Follow manifold vacum line from engine )...Chance are allso your trans just may need a good service/flush
Just some suggestion not sure if it helps your situation bro..
Floor it and swerve driving skool
My appoligies... your Trans wont be Vacum controled... Its got the electric solenoid..
Floor it and swerve driving skool
well i took it to the mechanic today..... turned out to be that the fuel pump was busted, he also noticed that the transmission lines were leaking so he fixed that too, all up was about $308, im happy with that
Cheers for the help too fellas
