They make gaskets, but there cork.

What i found was good, and its what i use, Loctite Gasket Maker. Its about 50 bucks from autobarn.
And its Oil Resistant, Coolant Resistant, and Temp. resistant. works a treat!
selling vp calais wheels with 97% rubber hardly used!

i use Loctite Blue RTV [smurf-spoof due to the blue colour ] for all my gaskets im in need of...

i use it on Thermostats, water-pumps, exhaust gaskets, etc etc
good shit, only about $15-20 from Repco or Autobarn...

I'm with the blue RTV or the Permatex branded Utra-Blue equivalent.

holdenrocks, are you sure that the leak isn't between the bearing cap and the block? On the cap parting line, use a thin smear of Loctite 515 and the Ultra-Blue squeezed into the grooves.

Yes, the K-member has to be dropped to get to the sump.

Hi, no need to remove crossmember on a vr. undo engine mounts and jack up the engine as far as it will go without the throttle body denting the firewall and you have just enough room to remove the sump. 2 gaskets are available, (cork and rubber) only use a cork gasket. no sealant required. do not use a rubber gasket. just be carefull not to overtighten the sump bolts. if you have a manual that should give you the torques for the sump bolts.
