    Default Head Gasket Gone.

    Hey there guys, Just wondering if I should swap my engine over;

    My Engine is a VR V6 S2 and has done a head gasket and the power steering pump, and has done 388,***k's

    So I was wondering if i was worth buying a lower kay engine or just fixing these problems and just giving the engine a freshen up.

    It will be used as a daily so i can get my L Hours up.

    I was thinking of, cleaning the heads, new gasket kit, new head bolts, new lifters, new water pump (maybe) second head or new power steering pump, and maybe cleaning the injectors.

    I'd be looking for a lower K engine and do a full swap. To freshen the old engine up to where it was before blowing the gasket will cost upwards of $500 and you still have a high K engine that really needs a full overhaul at a cost of $3000!
    A good 2nd hand one can be had for under $700.

    +1 for engine swap. A second hand motor can be had for fairly cheap, if your paying more than $700 for one then keeplookin as there is plenty out there. Its gonna end up costin you a bit to do a head gasket any wayz + little suprises.

    Probably just as easy to do engine swap than it is to change both head gaskets, just take the trans and motor out with the wiring loom simple as! i know chrisvr was looking for about $400 for his motor(low klms) and box

    And make sure you get a vr auto motor only other wise you have to take the balancer, water pump and timing cover because vr's have a cam angle sensor and the manuals VR's, VN and VP don't have them as i found out the hard way.
    I cheated and used a 27mm hole saw but i wouldn't suggest that to any one, because i was sick of looking at the motor by that time!!!!!

    if your living with your parents and they dont mind having an extra car in the yard and have plenty of space, you could probably pick up and engine with a full car for cheaper than just the engine itself. I've seen a few floating around with rear end damage for less than $400.
