I have a vs ute with a manual gearbox but it has recently developed some rather unusual problem while idling. First of all when the car is stationary its idling at the right speed but if you let the car start rolling in neutral it will pick up 2-300rpm? Also when changing gears, it take a long time to idle back down so riding the clutch is common at the moment. Any ideas?
are you saying the idle changes when you take your foot off the brake and let it roll ? If so it could be a vacuum leak somewhere.. but i'd be cleaning out the throttle body and IAC valve first of all.
I have a vs statesman v6 auto that idles at 700rpm when it rolls downhill in neutral it climbs up to 2000rpm and drops slowly when u stop. The l per 100 inst readout at 60kmp is :no acceleration is 4.5 and 30 when slowly accelerating 12- 15 normal cruising. above 80kph 6 to 8. Averaging 600km per tank. So far have no idea why.
