Hey crew,
I need your wisdom, i've recently purchased some steering wheel controls (on their way) my manual doesnt list the mount screws for them. Any idea what size they are? i know i can remove the wheel and check, but i only want to remove it to install the controls.
I will end up calling holden when i get time, thought i would see if anyone knows round these parts
Cheers All
They are just four of your standard black Philips head self tappers, same as in your door trim and you dont need to take the wheel off, just your horn bar cover doo hickey.

ahhh sweet, thankyou yea i meant horn pad lol its late/early
so behind the pad there those clear/white plastic plugs same as door trims? or do they just screw/self-tap into the plastic/rubber?
There are two holes on each side of the wheel and the controls line up with the holes. Sit in place after connecting the wires up and replace the horn cover.

legend!
there dont seam to be any VS steering wheel pics, found a VT one, i see the mounts and the gap where they poke out the sides. They look like metal holes, they must have upgraded the mounts
maybe you need a statesman or calais steering wheel?

Yes I know, if you get anymore manly you are in danger of making yourself pregnant!
nar all the wheels have a gap between the hornpad and the wheel itself, pop your head round the side of the wheel and u'll see the 2-3mm gap which allows the stereo controls to poke thru. would be cheaper for holden to produce 1 wheel which include the mounts instead of 2![]()
ok, i've just ripped of the horn pad and had a gander. all is well with the mounts, but i cant see where the plug go's for the buttons? i can see the plug where the horn and airbag plugs in but nothing else.
did the clock-spring have an extra plug for the buttons on the upper spec models? or am i missing something?
ok did a bit of searching on the other forum n found this, for anyones reference
How it works may help in understanding it. The remote module is effectively inserted in the horn wire, and the remotes send low voltage signals down the horn wire - not enough to trip the horn relay, but enough for the module to decode it, and then interface to the stereo.
When the horn is pressed, it's enough power to trip the relay & make the horn work. The remote module simply ignores it, as it's not a signal from the remote.
In an airbag car, the clockspring does the horn & the airbag.
In a non airbag car, the horn is via a contact & ring.
