hey all just finished off putting my new motor in and of course yet another thing has to go wrong , My belt tensioner pullie is pulling the belt out of line towards the engine so that the belt it self starts to rub , just woundering if it should always be in perfect alignment or is it in need of replacement because it is not lining up ??
cheers
Is the bolt that holds the pulley on bent?
The bearing is probably knackered. Does the pulley wobble with the belt off?
on topic, are genuine idler or tensioner pulleys better than aftermarket ? my autobarn pulley is getting very noisy after about 50,000 k's. Which one to get next ?
bolt and pully and tensioner have been changed today and still having the same issue !
have you changed the belt?
VU SS - The business
1100ZXi - Water Hoon SPL
GZ20 Soarer - 500hp 2JZ - Gone
look side on at all the pulleys and check that it is actually the idler causing the prob, or is it one of the others ... alternator, power steer ..
Maybe you left a spacer off from a pulley when putting the motor back together.
space it out with some washers or somthin if you can to fix it up.
belt is new, didnt leave any washers out, i've had my brother watch where the belt first moves and its been at the tensioner pulley so im guessing its the next pulley down. i'll be changing them over tomorrow . thanks for everyone's input
ended up changing whole water pump and this has fixed the problem but now there is coolant leaks that have decided to pop up here & therebutr atleast main issue has been resolved . thanks for the input and help guys
