Default belt tensioner throwing belt out of line. HELP!

hey all just finished off putting my new motor in and of course yet another thing has to go wrong , My belt tensioner pullie is pulling the belt out of line towards the engine so that the belt it self starts to rub , just woundering if it should always be in perfect alignment or is it in need of replacement because it is not lining up ??
    cheers

The bearing is probably knackered. Does the pulley wobble with the belt off?

on topic, are genuine idler or tensioner pulleys better than aftermarket ? my autobarn pulley is getting very noisy after about 50,000 k's. Which one to get next ?

look side on at all the pulleys and check that it is actually the idler causing the prob, or is it one of the others ... alternator, power steer ..

Maybe you left a spacer off from a pulley when putting the motor back together.

belt is new, didnt leave any washers out, i've had my brother watch where the belt first moves and its been at the tensioner pulley so im guessing its the next pulley down. i'll be changing them over tomorrow . thanks for everyone's input
