I have a VS station wagon.
Starting the car is fine, stopped at lights is fine, gentle cruise is ok… but under acceleration the car shudders. Freaked me out when it first happened as I was trying to overtake someone at the time, and this issue only seems to happen when i accerlerate up any kind of hill or incline, although i havent driven it all that much as i have been overseas for a month and drove if for the first time on Thursday, this was the first time i noticed this problem. This problem wasn’t around before I left.
Could leaving the car idle for a month in the cold but garaged do anything to it ?
I have read a few similar posts on this site and guys have been saying that it could be the leads or plugs
If it is.....can I replace them myself very easily
Any other ideas of the cause of the problem
Thanks for your help all

From the symptoms you described it does sound like plugs or leads, most likely a lead.
The leads are easy enough to change on the passenger's side but a bit more difficult on the driver's side. I haven't had an ecotec for a while but I think I had to move the alternator to run the leads properly.

I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.
id definitely replace the plugs and leads. that sounds like your problem.
with some simple tools and a bit of know how you can easily do it yourself.
just pull off one old lead and replace it with the new one of the same length from the packet.
and plugs just screw out and you screw the new ones in. you should be able to get the plugs and leads for around 80 dollars. maybe less
It may pay to check for error codes as well :
Checking error codes VR/VS (Revised)
your transmission could also be slipping....
if its not a plug or lead , then check the coils.
i dont know if its the same thing but my old vl started to do it, i hadn't serviced it for 2 years, so i did the air, oil and fuel filters, changed the oil and did the plugs and it went like new again.
Ive had the same problem a few months ago,it happen maybe about 5-6 times over a couple of months. I havnt replaced the leads or plugs yet and the problem has just gone. Im planning on replacing the plugs this weekend though!
definately leads. had the same thing happen to my vr wagon
