Hi, I get binding and a slight grinding noise in the drive train somewhere especially when reversing. I'm thinking drive shaft centre bearing or rear CV's as IRS or maybe tail shaft uni joints. How do I perform a test on these components to find the culprit? thanks
i used to hear a grinding noise and i thought it was my timing chain but it turned out to be the trans...check your trans fluid level and top up. uni joints generally make a whining sound and if they were suspect would clunk alot. as for the cvs on the rear jack it up and grab the shaft and apply little pressure to move it if itmoves then they need replacing.
the grease can leak out of the rear cv's on the commos after time and they get dry and make a kinda groany noise at low speed
