Normally when my temp gauge gets to the 3/4 mark, the low fan kicks, which I believe is normal, if I turn on the air/con, I hear the fan come on much earlier it is only at the 1/2 way mark on the temp gauge, I know the temp gauge has nothing to do with the fan comming on but I am wondering why I hear the fan come on earlier when the air/con is switched on.
thanks
could just be your car wanting to take in more air, or it just knowing that its turning on the air-conditioning motor and it’s about to work harder... that’s all I got!
its set to turn the fan on to cool the aircon radiator so the aircon works
I tune the oldschool way fear on the passengers face and knuckle colour cant go wrong
tabbacco is still my favorite vegetable
Ok, thanks a lot for the explaination![]()
more technically , so the heat can be removed from you air con condenser more efficiently , without it coming on when your air con is working your aircon would work like shit on idle

Because it's part of the Air Con cooling system, it helps.
The fan should switch on as soon as you turn AC on, and stay on continuously.
If your fan only comes on with AC on when gauge shows 1/2 way i think your low speed fan relay is faulty.
I have never seen my vs go over half way on my temp gauge in the year ive owned it the fan always kicks in.
hey mate you wouldnt happen to know how to help me with my problem, i have a VR Manual on staright gas battery went flat changed it to a new one and now i can start the car but when i release the key the car wont stay started ??
G'Day Ron, swap the relays around before you buy a new one...us old buggers have got to watch our pennies.
The A/C fan will NOT run continuously whislt the A/C is on - it will only run when the compressor is engaged, so when the cabin gets cold, the thermostat switches the compressor off till the thermostat senses it needs to cool again.
Thanks hako, just swapped them around and there is nothing wrong with them.
Your spot on about the pennies too
thanks mate once again.
errrm, something still sounds fishy here Ron. ... The fan should kick in when you turn AC on, then like Hako says it will cut in and out with the compressor. Try running your car in the driveway. Switch AC on a watch the fan - it should switch on instantly. If it doesn't, but waits until the gauge hits half way then somethings wrong.
