I have a 95 VS with live beam axcle also have a new fully rebuilt diff centre been quoted $660 for intallation with new bearings , but i've converted my car to manual and just put a new engine in it by myself so i was thinking how hard could it really be ??
or should i leave this job for the blokes who know exactly what there doing???
It's getting the pinion and crown gear to mesh properly by using different sized shims which is difficult. If you get it wrong you'll destroy your gears so imo it's better left to the pros.
if you are just changing the centres its pretty easy, i put an lsd centre in my car by myself for the first time, took me a whole day to do and had no dramas. hardest part i found was putting the diff back into the housing as it is pretty tight.
