hey guys, got a vn with a vs ecotec, and i can tell you guys, have not been happier with the eng,
BUT....... today at lunchtime, i filled the car up with United PULP in bentleigh, was driving fine, then went to harvey norman in moorabbin, parked the car, went inside for 30-50 sec's.
come out to go to jb-hi fi, get in to my car and go to start it and she won't fire, WTF.....
the same fuel was running the car b4 i filled it up, and was great that's y i went and filled it up witht the same stuff. today!!
got spark, theres seems's to be fuel in the line, cos it's pressured up, turns over, but will not fire..... i'm pretty cluey when it comes to engines, but i'm sorry this ones really pissed me oFF!!!! got no idea.
any help
thought it might be CAS but i'm not sure!!!!!

Not sure if you have a VN or VS???...but if it's a VS check that the immobiliser light is not flashing (under the radio) - it must extinguish otherwise the car will not start. If it stays on it may be the keyhead where it makes contact with the ring around the keyhole.
Good Luck. Also try a fault code check.
You may have bad fuel. It may hurt and it's a pain in the rear but try draining the tank and replace it with another brand. I recently experienced a bad lot of fuel from Shell.
hey dude, i have a VN comm, with a VS ecotec, under the bonnet. my ride as of monday night!!!
as you can see by the vid it works!!!!
YouTube - HICOMPVN'S 1990 VN Commodore Exec Sedan V6 With A VS Ecotec Engine!!!
LOL yeah i know, already spoken to the company and they havn't got any compaints today apart from me!!!!!
I doubt very much its cause of the fuel even if it was dodgy I'm pretty sure the car would still run, dodgy as but it would still run.
Tried pulling codes and checking earths?
LOL guys, NO codes apart from 12(system ok) there is no probs witht the wiring, I KNOW, cause it's worked no probs!! not 40 seconds before i parked the car!!!, but yeah that's what i thought it would still run if even dodgy fuel!!!
and also i don't have a 60lt jerry can lying around!!!
Not to sound silly, but is it in park or neutral? Best to start with the easiest.
tried the check park sensor, no not that.
like seriously i was driving the bloddy thing just be for i parked the car, and she was all good!!! got out locked the door, pressed the alarm, went inside for 40-50 secs looking for a RCA to 6.5mm stereo jack, but they didn't have one, went out to get into the car, unlocked alarm, got in turned key to ign, paused, then went to start and just turns over, no fire!!!! BUT THERE IS SPARK!!!!!
well if it was a problem with the key head you wouldnt be getting and turning over at all so rule that one out.
had a similar situation when my fuel pump went on my VN would turn over but not fire.... so maybe fuel pump was on its last legs when you parked? ( probably not but thats all i can think of )
maybe the alarm hasnt disabled check for power on the pink wire going to the ecu with the key on
I tune the oldschool way fear on the passengers face and knuckle colour cant go wrong

na not the fuel pump, cos i just got her home, and tried to get her going, still no start, but fuel pressure is there, alarm is all good, not that, Would a faulty CAS cause No pulse at injectors....???? cos that's what seems to be the problem, i'm getting no pulse at the injectors, and they are all good.
HEY Guys can anyone tell me if a faulty CAS, would be the result of NO PULSE at all 6 injectors
or what would cause the injectors to stop pulsing???
they were re-coed before i reinstalled them into the VS COMM engine...
yeah cas would do it but would normally show a code .my guess is no power to ecu or injectors is there 12 volts at the injector plugs

mind you if its flashing codes the ecu is getting power

trippy, havn't checked the voltage,m but will do that tomozz
unless there are other ideas!!!
Whenever my car won't start its always the DFI . ... might pay to check that. I think spark signal comes from DFI - not sure on that bit tho
what you think it could have just stopped working like that, "Snap of the fingers".
I did just buy a whole new coil pack and dfi module and bracket, well not new, s/hand, from allcomm when i was putting the engine into the car, and it was all good and also, as prieviously stated i have spark.
Will be looking at the girl a bit more today,![]()
Might be CAS or injectors i have put it down to, unless someone's put something in my tank but very highly unlikely.
takes a lot to stop the spark happening the dfi only needs power earth and the cas hookec up to make spark but the dfi can still be dead and not sending to the ecu or half the cas isnt working and utr will still spark just the ecu wont see the pulses it wants for fueling to begin

yeah see now that's my thinking of why i might have a faulty CAS,thing's along those lines.
also off topic but in my posting, how come my avitar doesn't come up or does it and i just don't see it, i put one one and there's nothins.
and as also stated i do have spark, just no pulseing at the injectors.
well i will be taking the harmonic of tomoz to see in the morning, and change the CAS, but if not that, i'll spose i'll have to look at the dfi module!!! grrrr
well luckily i have a spare floating around! Of both parts!
hey guys, woooohooooo..........
just thought i would get on and let you all know.... that my baby is alive again!!!!!
i must have been bitten by the trusty ol DFI module failure bug.
that's what it ended up being..
thanks heaps for everyones help, love your work, see you out on the road!!!!!!
