i know theres plenty of threads on this already but ive been through them and none explain what kind of tool i need for it. its seems to be like a little 6 pointed star with a dot in the middle. what kind of tool can i use to undo this?
a torx screw??
mmm . wheer can i get one of these from? any idea and a price?
if it looks similar to a phillips head screw but with more than 4 point, that is what it is, most tool and speed shops will sell the sizes individually, $10 for a decent one maybe?? Cheaps kits might not be much more so check out bunnings.
thanks heaps shifty appreciated
Depending on how big you want it, you can get them in kits from Dick Smith. The kits are just a handle with a whole bunch of different heads.
Its a security head, its a torx head with an additional hole.
Bit harder to find, I ended up buying a "security head" kit thing from Mal's. Has a whole bunch of different security head bits and the holder for mounting in a screwdriver/electric drill etc
$20 bux from memory. Should be easy enough to find. As RJK said, DS should have them too
I like VS Caprices so much, I bought 2... and a WH Grange!
Ive just done this,i rang my mechanic up and he had one which he let me borrow for 1hr problem solved. The wheel was a nightmare to get off the spilne but a lot of hitting and pulling
be careful with all the hitting and pulling. Major damage can be done very quickly. A steering-wheel puller is only about $20 (or borrow one) which eliminates the need for belting from the back.
I've never found one yet that didn't come off with some extreme powa wriggling (no need to bash it)
lol woops maybe i should have kept the bashing bit out of that..
shouldnt need a bashing just pull really hard for about 10 seconds and wait for it to come loose and get thrown back in your seat at a completly unexpected moment haha
make sure you leave the bolt in the wheel a few threads, dont wanna break your face when it comes flyin off at you
My mate ended up with a serious case of steering wheel to the face doing it that way.![]()
Does WD40 help?
