Default Live Axel or IRS on S-Packs?

Ok I'm a little bit confused.

I was under the impression that all VS S-packs came out with IRS suspension. Not Live Axel, however, someone told me the other day that not all did, and that the 'Radial Tuned Suspension' sign under the headunit (on that little bar on the center console) means that the car is Live Axel not IRS (he says that if the car is IRS it will have the ABS//IRS sign instead of Radial Tuned Suspension)

    I'm confused.

Did any VS S-Packs come out in Live Axel?

I think it was an option, like SRS etc.

Edit: Or maybe IRS was an option...

I would've thought IRS was the option, given that it's technically an upgrade.

Hmmm...That's what he said but I would've thought that the S-Packs had most of the 'sportier' or upgraded parts.

Nope, IRS was an option. I've seena fair few on this forum with the option, which probably gives the impression they all have it.

    Ah ok.

Any ideas on how to check which is which? i.e. what would the owner's plate/stamp or whatever it's called say about IRS/Live Axel?

    I'm not sure it would.

You'd have to ring holden with the VI and get the codes (or if you have the Assembly sheet) which are 3 digit codes as seen here

as the OP said, if your car has a radial tuned suspension sign it is live axle.
If you are still not sure what you have post a photo of your diff and we'll tell you...

That doesn't mean much considering its only 3 screws to change that (or rip the badge off)

My VP Wagon has an ABS/IRS badge

Just look under the car man, if it looks like a normal old days car it's live axel, if it looks like a VW dune buggy = IRS :P, the IRS has seperate axels that can pivot all around, the live axel is all one unit

    Time for another drawing

Well I checked under her skirts today and it's live Axle so that kind of sucks...

LSD wasn't an option on S-Packs was it? I'm pretty sure that that was standard.

I thought it was an option on executives? So surely if it was then it would of been on S-Packs too?

im sure the LSD was part of a package,Ie if you got FE2 then a LSD became an option. I have a mate with a VS Executive with both FE2 and LSD from factory,V8 too. I know VE Omega's have the LSD option "IF" you get the sports suspenion put in

if you wipe all the crap off the diff you should find a metal tag with some info on it. If it says Hi performance then you have an LSD.
