You need a paperclip cut in half, and you need to stick the two points into holes 5 and 6 in the socket under your steering wheel, above the brake.

You'll see that most of the holes dont have metal components in them, so if you count 5 and 6 along the top row of the two rows, those are your holes.

Once you have it inserted, turn your key to the on position, but dont start it. Watch your engine light for the number of flashes. The first flashes are worth ten points, and after a 1.5 second pause, it will flash again, this time the flashes are worth one point.

Count them up and thats your error code. You should get Error 12, which is normal. It will be like this: "FLASH (1.5 second pause) then FLASHFLASH." It means NO RPM SIGNAL, which you're obviously getting because the engine isnt running.

next time just do a search.

Also, forgot to add, every error will flash three times, so you should see error 12 repeat itself three times before it displays any other error because the error codes are shown in order from lowest to highest. Eg: if you had error 31 - Theft deterrent signal missing it would only flash after you watched the error 12 flash three times.

If error 12 just flashes over and over again more than three times, then you have no error codes recorded. This doesnt mean that nothing is wrong, it just means the computer doesnt THINK anything is wrong.

Yeah my bad, I obviously forgot the "dont". I know not to start it. You can see that I was actually meaning to say DONT START it by the way I worded it. Editing the original post now.

i've left the 'paperclip' in and started it heaps of times. The dash light just flashes really quick - doesn't do any damage that i've noticed.!!
