i have a vs v6 manual and it has a bad idle and sometimes stalls. but when the revs are up its fine. when i first converted it it drove fine and now its been getting worse. ive changed the spark plugs coil pack and the module under the coils and it has new oxygen sensors. could i just need a tune since its been converted to manual? and on the weekend i did a drift and was reving it at about 3500 and it just cut out and wouldnt start for about 15 mins then it just drove fine after that if that means anything??
It could be the crank angle sensor failing - this will usually get worse. To verify do a codes check:
Checking error codes VR/VS (Revised)
how hard is it to change that? and how much? i think it could do with a tune aswell if greenfoam empties his inbox
wouldnt it idle higher if it has a leak there? correct me if im wrong...
how hard is it to replace a crank angle sensor? i did the error code check and nothing came up.
nar they usuually run ruff and sound like a out of whack v8 well mine did cause of my exhaust.
when i drive it it sounds fine but when it idles it sounds like there could be a bit of a missfire. and it idles at 500 roughly
hey i had the same problem it was went the car got warm the car would turn itself off it ust to just start strait away then after a while i ended up being stuck there till i found cold water to tip on it it is a ***in hassle to change it ur self your definately better off goin to the mechanics to get it changed i herd it was easy thought id give it a crack got the bolt off then found out the pulley uller is 78 dollars from supercheap so i just went to the mechanics got it changed with a new seal for 120
Yeah, it is a bit of task, I have done it to my old VS Ute and I will now need to do it to my VS Berlina, I had my uncles work shop for the day and all his tools, gave myself plenty of room by taking out the radiator, and then got compressor drill on the bolt, took a while but I got it off, then bearing puller, and was it off, it less then an hour,
make sure if your going to do it, check that the Harmonic Balancer is flying all over the joint when the car is cold and sitting there idling, because it would be best the change that too ($115 from repco)
it was actualy my coil pack wires rubbing on my belts and all the wires touching. all good now but
You just buy a sensor off ebay $30 and get a pully puller from supercheap and pull the vs harmonic balancer off and just replace the sensor.
