Just a note of caution: you will need an engineers certificate to make it legal.

2" can make a big difference in some things. Subtle changes are sometimes better than wild mods.

Use the handbrake out of a VT.

The VS hand brake lever is within the centre console piece of plastic, right next to the passenger seat. The VT hand brake lever(sum1 correct me if im wrong) is positioned between console and drivers seat.

If i can get the VT set up in my VS,there'll be heaps of space to play with between the console storage compartment and the gear shifter area. Cover the old handbrake space with new plastic and drink holders or something would be a piece of piss to fit in

The VT handbrake is recessed into the console on the right hand side, and probably takes as much room out of that side of the console as the VS one does on the left hand side. The VT handbrake is not placed outside the console area as you are suggesting. I would think you would be going to a lot of trouble and not gaining any additional space at all.

but i dont use the side of my console so why wouldnt get extra space by moving the lever to the side. either way i'll sus it out and see wat happens. Was hoping it wouldnt be overly hard but damn wasnt i wrong

I don't think you understood me. The VT console IS recessed to accommodate the handbrake - it's just that it's recessed on the driver's side instead of the passengers. I can't see how you will gain any space by swapping from one side to the other.

Yeah,I have to admit that does appear to open up a bit of space - certainly more than I thought. The work involved on the floorpan will be extensive though.

Thanks buddaboy, now people should get a better understanding on what im trying to explain. Ive seen it done before and im on a 3 month suspension which gives me time to do some research before i decide to do it or not. A trip to a wreakers should give good insight too. Ive always wanted the centre console to be more useful, change power window buttons to the smaller/more compact VY/Z style etc and moving the hand brake lever which is possible, would give me heaps of options. As said tho,it'll have to be researched a lot. I just wish i knew someone who's done it.
