Gearbox noise

My 5.0l vs auto has started making a stange noise in drive and reverse when stopped. Is this the beginning of the end or something a good service might fix?

Maybe a bit more info is needed like what sort of noise etc. However, my first guess would be either the exhaust hitting the body when idling in D or R or the rear engine mount (under transmission) is buggered. Also possible is the flex plate is starting to crack.
No engine light on?
