I have a 2.5" with one muffler, i had the muffler taken off so straight through from the catback - that was barky and throaty and sounded tuff at high revs but was droney and shit down lower rev range and on the freeway so i put the muffler back on and am happy atm..

unless you want to shot yourself after a long trip I would not go over 2.5 twin. I had a supercharged vs calais and the ass at the exhaust shop put on a twin 3inch when i asked for a 2.5 and it sucked ass.
The only way you will ever get a good sound out of a V6 is by adding two extra cylinders lol.

But yeah as Pillzor and vkcommo have said, you need extractors as well to get as good a sound you will get.

And so the V8 talk starts again, how about just answering the guys question instead of saying get a V8?

i disagree that v6 with extractors and a 2.5 catback sound shit , i do agree that the v8 sounds better though.

Go a set of pacies and a redback 2.5 inch cat back with no resonator. Its no v8 sound, but its as close as youll get.

A hot dog is a nice touch as it doesn't limit the noise output much but helps with the drone and making it a deeper note. I finally found out myself

I heard any more about your ute. So the system went on OK in the end?

After heating it up with the oxy and bending it, where it hadn't been made correctly in the factory it fitted semi-alright. Then when i added the hotdog i had to lengthen it a bit for the bracket to sit properly and to make it all sit properly.

It all fits quite well now but i should not have had to go through all that when i paid $250 for a system that was meant to fit a VS Ute from day one, which there was no chance in hell of it doing.

The part numbers on the parts were correct, my only suggestion is that the vehicle had been modified or the tail pipe was damaged in transit.

Vehicle is stock as a rock, i highly doubt the pipe could of been damaged in transit. My only suggestion is that the manufacturing process produced a flawed pipe.

I have a VN SS exhaust on my 6, but it sticks out bout 5-10 cm too far so if you pick one of those up cheap and cut that much off would be good. I think they're 2.5 from the cat back, and they're pretty nice sounding, but massive flat spot in higher revs for me

Not a big fan of massive V6 exhausts they tend to drone really bad at constant speeds, but if your going to do it keep the rear resonator that seems to be the biggest culprit of droning.
