    Default STEREO Hmm

    Hi all,

I had a cd player installed by strathfield a few years ago. Not sure what they do, but they didnt seem to use the harness that came with the head unit.

I was gunna take it out before I sell the car, but honestly couldnt be stuffed taking the whole dash and panels out. Is there a quicker way, or is there a harness there and im not prodding the things in far enough?

Cheers for the heads up, and any help.

damit. was hoping I wouldnt have to. Is it worth removing before sale, or would it boost the sale money a bit? Its a Sony CD/MP3 with aux input.

Unless its a kickass stereo system, a standard 2nd hand sony cd/mp3 with aux can be bought on ebay for like $50, or a new one for around 100. I'd leave it in there and if you need another one, buy a new one. It will probably add more value than the $50 you'd get for it (after spending an hour + taking it out if you havent done it before).

it takes me about 30 seconds to get the whole dash apart enough to take it out but thats only coz ive done it so many times. If u havent done it b4 it will take u a good hour of frustration and sore fingers. the other thing is what would u put in it if u take the sony out? u will have to un-rewire it to re-suit your stocky which honestly wont be worth the trouble

Exactly. Once you know how to do it, its a pretty quick job. But considering he got it put in by strathfield, its likely he hasn't done it before.

Re-wiring it to suit the stock stereo isn't that hard, just need some of those wire clips and wiring diagram. The pain will be in the actual tearing apart of the dash, i took off more than I needed to and spent a good 20-30 mins trying to figure out which screws went where.

    thanks guys.

my old man is giving me his old jeep yank tank - was going to take it out to put in there - as its been a good stereo. was looking for a new one recently, and the ones liek this suit my purpose more than a fancy bluetooth gangle jangle thing are no longer to be found for less than $100, which i thought they would considering the outdatedness of them\. I have taken the dash apart before in patches, but not the full way.

Am bidding on a head on ebay atm, just dont know where its been is all, with the sony i know. Pioneer any good?

I personally prefer pioneer and kenwood products to sony. Pioneer shit in general is pretty indestructible. Their djing equipment in particular. I wouldnt recommend anyone do this, but i once spilt a pot of beer all over a cdj-100 (the el cheapo base level pioneer cdj players), was still fine for the next 6 months, at which point it was retired from the venue for a cdj-800. God knows what other people spilt on that thing, or how many times it was dropped, but basically, pioneer shit gets outdated before it breaks!

thanks for all the help everyone. made my decision a little easier.
