Default To Panhard or not to Panhard? Thus is the question

Not sure if a adjustable panhard rod is really needed in my setup. After some pros/cons on installing an adjustable panhard rod.

Ive had the car for just over 2 years. 3 months in i had a brand new panhard rod fitted for nothing from the dealer among other things.

Currently im running superlow king springs and short stroke monroe GT sport shocks.

My question is so, is there any benefit in my installing an adj pan rod? As far as i can tell my 2.5" exhaust clears my live axle diff easily, and i havent the slightest idea in how to tell if there is any play in my diff.

    cheers guys

The only reason you need a adjustable panhard rod is to prevent scrubbing by evening up the diff

and to make the diff sit central in the car after lowering cause it moves to one side the lower the car goes making the wheels not track right behind the front ones which can make the car turn better one way more than the other
I tune the oldschool way fear on the passengers face and knuckle colour cant go wrong

I've had king sl's and monroe gt gas in mine for the last 5 years, never replaced the panhard and never had a problem. NEVER scrubs the wheels though it does scrape the exhaust over some speed humps

king sl's only lower the car around 1 inch, to me that's not worth the extra coin on a panhard

Panhard rod is worth the $$$ to be honest, I noticed the arse end didn't feel as wobbly when I put it in.. Especially when taking corners with some speed.

I think its worth atleast looking for one on ebay for cheap

    .
f you have lowered your car(superlows), your axles will not be in the middle of your rear wheel arches any more. Get a ruler and measure the distance from the outer edge of your tyre to the side of the car. Now go to the other side and do the same measurement, to check. The lower you go the worse this gets. It's due to the radius arc of the panhard rod - as it points further upwards with a lower lift the horizontal distance becomes longer. Have you ever got a shudder in your car that's really really bad. Some call it the death wobbles. It is caused due to rear wheels not being central and working inline with front wheels.

If your springs are low enough and if your have wide wheels, without the adj rod, you will scrub one of your tyres to death if you have a load of fatties in the back, or if you go over a rough part of the road at speed.
Its worth it, ive got ultra lows in the rear, and i was getting alot of barking before i changed the rod and adjusted it properly. If youve got superlows, you'll get away without it if tyre scrubbing is all your worried about.

I think ute different from sedan, where as ute use leaf spring, shocks or sometimes stabilizer bar so the diff always in center and sedan live axle uses coil spring, shocks, upper and lower control arms, stabilizer also etc. but not sure about late model ute.

VG(VN) to VS utes are coil spring, not leaf.

sedan adjustable panhard rods will fit utes and wagons. but, some utes have load sensitive rear brakes, which has a link onto the panhard rod. chuck your head under the car and look for chain links welded/bolted to the panhard rod.

if yours is like this, im not sure how you go with adjustable panhard rods

I think its exactly the same, as the load sensor just unbolts and bolts back on i think.
