have come to a decision to get a new motor and...
ifve been offered a 3.8 ecotec v6 roller motor with api race everything in it and flat top pistons bored out to 4.1 with a twin turbo set up for 3 grand. is it worth getting or making my own setup. the engine is fully chrome. now is it worth the price or is it worth less or more? and it comes as a 100% complete engine

3 grand sounds pretty damn cheap. Is it new? any warranty?
Any idea on the power its making?

At then end of the day you still have a 6, but it looks like a 6 full of suprises and its NOT a V8 which I think is a bonus

i jizzed looking at it. how have the rockers been chromed? they look like standard ones not metal would the chrome shit flake off when it gets hot.

its just been rebuilt and the red was painted on. no warranty tho its off a mate. he said it will do 11 seconds easy and with new diff gears 9s. he also said about 700hp but i doubt it. still a good motor tho

they are vn series 1 or 2 cant remember which one. they were metal rocker covers. would look pretty good sitting in my ute tho :P how do u think a t5 would handle that?

I think your mate is talking up the power and times a LOT, but damn thats a good looking engine. And it would be a steal for $3k

Unless his mate is Eurekamad94, then I agree 700hp is bullshit

. But even 3k for a strong engine with that much chrome would be fair, if its what it says it is, with the TT setup then its worth the coin.

3k is a steal if it's legit and the work was done properly. The rocker covers could always be standard plastic with a conductive paint and then electroplated in chrome, that works too.

But then I notice the oil filler is on the oposite side.

yeahh i didnt really believe him wwhen he said 700. yeah ive seen it its a pretty sweet engine. they are metal covers i tapped them with my keys. and it definantly does come with the tt setup. i think they are garret turbos aswell. he said he has api race everything in the engine like rings gaskets stud kit and bearings ect. is that good shit?

in the photo they arnt bolted on only sat on for the photo so maybe there just placed on the wrong side

i wouldn't worry about the chrome myself , chrome can cause trouble with overheating and you don't want that with TT under the bonnet ...

The twin turbo set up would be worth $3k alone pretty much. The engine looks pretty damn ****ing sweet.

$3k is a steal IMO, provided it all works sweet and runs well. I'd jump on it for sure.
