    Default changing irs diff oil?.....

i was going to change the diff oil when i did the cv boot yesterday not realizing it was going to be the way it is. anyway the only way i can see of doing it is to actually remove the hole center. problem i have is i have no one to help me plus i have never worked with irs before.
personally i don't see why they put irs in them its a pain. lowering need camber kit plus more things that can go wrong i.e the cv joints and the boots plus all the extra bushes when they need to be replaced.
anyway i'm moving off my own topic haha could someone tell me what way i'm spose to go about changing it also why the hell is the oil so dear cost me 59 dollars for 2ltrs....

Fairly sure the bottom middle bolt is the drain plug?

if that is the case i may do it that way but also i was hoping to open her up and have look to see if it is buggered or not because it does single leggers and has lsd high performance diff (according to tag)

    yes it says "lsd
    high performance"

exactly like that. BUT it is only a tag it is easy to change but why someone would i don't know. only way to tell really is to open it up and have a look at its insides. i also heard all commodores with irs have lsd's its probably been said before but i thought mayswell ask since i already wrote it lol

LSD is not standard with IRS. I wish it was.
The bottom bolt is the drain plug as said above. As for oil you got ripped off , it only costs about $20 to refill your diff.

Not true. You need gear oil with special additives for an LSD differential. Castrol SAF-XA costs $29 a litre at Repco and slightly more at other places. You need 1.7 litres and it's only available in one litre bottles.

Because of the limited space it's very difficult to fill the differential without a proper pump. I use a Macnaught suction pump which holds 500mls and is easy to use with a long tube nozzle. I think it was around $40-50 at Bursons. You can use it for a variety of other things.

OK OK thats true, it all depends on if the diff is LSD or not, i was talking about price of oil for a standard centre - i use castrol LSX90 for mine ( not LSD ). Isn't there a test you can do to check if its LSD or not ? jack up the rear wheels and turn one wheel and watch the other ? can't remember what to look for but its something like that.
As for filling I use a 1 litre bottle with long spout, hold it up near the sway bar and squeeze it in the fill hole.

well i got mine from repco so the price wasn't wrong lol its 29.49 now lol as for it being lsd i'm not sure wether the test of jacking it up and seeing if both wheels spin would work on mine because i think the center is buggered
