Hey,
I wouldnt mind doing somthing with my ute tray, the paint is flaking, and its a bit dinged up, i wouldnt mind a drop in liner, but they are hard to find, and ive heard that water can get in between them, and the tray and rust real bad,
I like the idea of carpet, but it would probably get really dirty, and im not sure if it would suit a vs/vr, but if anybody has carpeted theirs or has pics please post em..
yer ok thanks,
how would i go about attaching it to the sides? And do you think making it all 1 big piece would be a good idea? oor do the spereate pieces?
After looking at a few pics of new drop ins i recon they probly look better than carpet..(But thats while they look) And they actually dont cost as much as i thougth they did, theyv al ben <400 so far, how much would i be looking at for a good condition used one?
Yer that was a concern for me aswel,I also like both idea's but don't like the fact that it says on the website that liners can let moisture can get in between the liner and tray
but searching around people have said that when they took them out after several years there was a little bit of serface rust that polished out...
So i think if they where taken out every couple of months, cleaned and let to dry they should be right..
My tray will probably have water in it a fair bit anyway..
We got an car audio specialist to glue the carpet on as they have very strong glues.
Come to think of it, one of your main concerns was covering the pealing paint, which im guessing is on the walls of the tray aswell. I'm not sure if it would look to great as i've only seen it on flat metals trays of rodeos. You could still try it though.
If you have peeling paint, you will want to fix this before you lay anything down. The tub needs to be sealed from the elements, like any bare metal.
I cant imagine carpet being a good thing, but thats just me.
Those ute liners are known for causing rust, but if the tub is sealed and 100% dry, and lined installed on a low humidty day I dont see a problem.
Have you considered the spray on liners, they are next to nothing else on the market. Can either get it profressionally done, or by DIY stuff.
yer ive seen the spray on ones, the professional ones are way more than im willing to pay, and i think the DIY ones look pretty dodgey..
Rhino Linings Tweed, home of the world's #1 ute liner
Rhino Profressional spray on linings start at $560, Rhino lining hav a very good name for there spray on liners, theres a few other mobs getting around, but no idea what there like.
There was a DIY kit advertised in one of the 4X4 mags this month, Ill grab details if I remember.
Yeah the professional ones arnt cheap, but they seem worth it if you plan on keeping your ute for some time.
Some of the DIY ones look very dodgey, and infact just that underbody tar shit, but the one I seen in the 4X4 mag looked really good, but thats only in pictures.
Thats where my plan to get a professional one stops..Yeah the professional ones arnt cheap, but they seem worth it if you plan on keeping your ute for some time.
