    Unhappy Air Bag Light On

VS Exec with factory fitted driver and passenger airbags (retarded I know). Originally had a BT1 cluster, recently upgraded to L3... The PCB was damaged on the L3 cluster, the speed alert light and buzzer tracks were very visibly broken. Just replaced the PCB with one that looks to be in fine condition, and now the airbag light is constantly on.

Either on the original L3 PCB the air bag light track was damaged too, or I've somehow stuffed something in between... Question is, what does the light mean? How do i find out or fix it?

    Cheers, Fonzie

Did you start up the engine while the cluster was out? That triggers an airbag fault.

When I did that it cost me around $50 for holden to simply turn it off

Are you serious??! Pricks. I didn't actually start the car, but I did turn it to the 'On' (One past ignition) position... So it was in the running position, but I hadn't cranked... F***.

EDIT: Maybe if i disconnected the battery? Reset the bcm perhaps?

Nup. Once the fault is logged in the Airbag (which would have happened when you turned the key on), it can't be cleared in anyway that I am aware of, except a visit to a dealer.

That said, I called one in Perth who were only too happy for me to drop by and they did it for free. Takes 5 mins tops.

    Make a few calls.

Yeah he said that they didn't just turn the code off, they actually checked the faults or something?

They should run a full test on the airbag system - basically a simulation designed to indicate the reason the airbag light came on in the first place. Otherwise it may come on again in 5 minutes and if you had a prang and the airbag didn't work you could sue Holdens for not fully testing the system.

Yeah, that and I'd like the problem fixed rather than hidden... The airbags are there for a reason, If some prick hits me I want to live long enough to financially rape him.

The problem you have, is when a fault code is log into the computor. It stays there until you use a scan tool or tech 2 to clear the fault. You might have to bite your tongue and pay someone $$$$ to clear your fault
