As the title states I am now a VS owner
I'm swappnig my VL for a VS with member K3zBang. I wanted something newer and auto that the missus could drive, he wants a project thats a manual so that works
anything I should look into maintaining first? I'm gonna do my own servicing and all that. So apart from the usual oil change/coolant flush what else should I look into? thanks
It's a black 96 with what I think are 911 replica rims
hey mate im a soon to be vs owner, and from my background reading, theres like an issue with the alternator, the red wire gets corodded and like pretty much stuffs up n then the battery doesnt get charged, might wanna check that out?
Will check that out. The battery on it earlier was dead. I put mine from the VL in and drove it into garage. and now just have the stuffed one. Hopefully they are pretty easy to replace as I'll get on it on monday. The battery wasnt holding charge. But it ran fine just on the alternators power.
Sure did, and mate if looking for a cheap fix for now, big W sell battery's for about 60 bucks... should tie you over for now.
Yeah? in Canberra there was a no name cheapy for a VN 5 ltr v8 i picked up for 70 bucks.
gonna pick up a battery today and get to worklol
will probably change fluids on it too![]()
Haha good to hear you got a VS. I myself am an owner and they're pretty nice to drive![]()
Paul mate i would do the whole lot it's been sitting there for ****ing ages not running, do the leads and plugs also.
Lol yeah. but she ran fine when we started her up. Gonna start with a change oil and coolant and shit. I need to get myself car ramps or jackstands.. Unless you got some I could borrow so I can DIY it at home![]()
Another recommendation i make with VS's is constantly check the error codes, also another common thing is for the DFI/CAS/Coils to go belly up so just keep a look out for that, a good sign for that is if it is running rough / cuts out while driving etc.
Get it regularly serviced, and she should be all sweet. Mate had a VS with 380,000+ KM's and it is still running perfect, he just serviced it regularly and looked after it with TLC.![]()
Check your tail lights.. Get sick of seeing commos with anywhere between 1 and 4 out. Check under the spare tire for rust, or water (I'll be a rear quarter panel seal if thats the case).
And of course, the first thing you do with any 2nd hand car, check under the rear bench seat for random things![]()
yeah shes got 250k kms and I started her up today. drove her around the parking lot and all seems fine. Doesnt overheat, doesnt leak. doesnt blow smoke. fuel smells off though. lol
It wasnt in the rear bench.. in the trunk there's red stilletos and a few high heel shoes.. only oen side though LOL
drivers side right rear tail light is out. works when you step on the pedal though. So just gotta change the bulbs. most work though.
I'll have a look at the error codes. hopefully all on it is well![]()
hey mate, front suspension for sure.
usually link pin bushes are screwed, best to replace with h/d ones with kinks in them, not straight ones.
power steering pump on ecotec's too.
Cheers.
ecotec is the v6 right?
pump seems fine at the moment.suspension hasnt really made noise but I cant tell as havent taken it out on the open road yet
