Default Slight clunk from drive train..

    Heyas,

Lately my VS has been letting off a slight clunk from, I believe, the diff.. im not very savy with cars so im not 100% how serious the problem is..

It will clunk on gear changes, when I take my foot off the gas and it also clunks giving it gas.. say I give it a bit of gas, it will clunk and then it will accelerate.. it doesnt always do this, but it does it more times than not!

It will also do this if im stationary changing gears manually (it' an auto)!

I haven't checked anything, I wouldnt know where to start..

as above check your upper arms, especially if its live axle. Its much better to drive if they arent fugged.

they dont look to be sitting right, have a play with your screw driver with it and see if it looks flogged inside where the bolt goes through. Upper bushes are usually not expensive and they look like they are past their best, so it would be worth doin.

I have the same problem. All the rear bushes are fine. I'm thinking it's something to do with the uni joints or cv joint.

    hey mate
im not 100% but i think its one of the uni joints for the tailshaft.(fixed this same problem on VL comme) start your car HOLD THE BRAKE get a mate to lie next to your car and put in gear to try pin point were the clunk is coming from dont run ur mate over, chances are one of the uni joints are stuffed maybe the one that joins the tailshaft to the diff.
as i said im not 100% but worth a look
hope this helps ya good luck

Prick of a job, that's why it's so expensive just to change some bushes. You can do it yourself with a puller made from threaded rod, some nuts and washers and a peice of pipe.
