    Arrow Steering wheel Q :)

Hey guys, probably a dumb question but what's the law regarding steering wheels? I want to know if I can replace the stock vs steering wheel with one of those ones you can get at supercheap, autobarn etc

Only certain aftermarket wheels are ADR approved. If the factory wheel has an airbag (which Im sure yours does, friend has the same model) then its pretty much out of the question.

Thats the thing, Im not sure if there is aftermarket airbag steering wheels to replace factory ones. Airbag systems are taken very seriously and are engineered to suit that certain vehicle. Unless theres a company that do direct replacements I think you are out of luck. Airbags are also very costly and a vehicle can be deemed a write off if the airbags have been triggered because the cost of replacing the whole system exceeds the value of the car.

Im not a person that does everything by the book, haha, thought made me laugh. Its just that people are picky about this sort of thing. By all means you can rip the factory wheel off and replace it with a boss kit and wheel from supercheap, but it will land you a defect and your insurance company wont be very happy.

you may be able to get away with it in a vs because not all of them came out with airbags. i've got a poverty pack vs exec that never came out with one, i put a momo wheel on and my insurance company (shannons) and the cops have no problem with it. if yours came out with an airbag u could probably just put an aftermarket wheel on and tell the cops it never had an airbag as standard, might get away with it

Acclaims had airbags as they were a "safety" model. You could remove the badges, but that doesnt change the VIN or registration details.
