as you guys may have read in my other thread I am now an owner of a VS S1 I thought I'd make a thread to ask my questions in as opposed to creating one for evrey question lol
First would be, when you pull the bonnet release lever, the bonnet wont pop up. it has to be pushed down for it to bounce up enough to open it. So everytime you open the bonnet there has to be two of you doing it. Anything I should look at? the bonnet struts dont hold the bonnet up anymore either. ti slowly sinks down. would that have anything to do with it not popping up to open?
loosen the peg on the bonnet a little bit and she will open easy as
I tune the oldschool way fear on the passengers face and knuckle colour cant go wrong
tabbacco is still my favorite vegetable
Peg as in the spring thats meant to push it up? how do I go about doing that? thanks guys
In the attached pix, loosen the locknut upper left, then insert a large flat screwdriver in the peg (opposite end covered in grease) and unscrew one full turn. Relock the locknut and see if it helps.
hako is onto it and has a pic too handy chap![]()

Wow thats perfect. Will try it out in a bit
also now, how do I remove the passenger door card?
My passenger lock is stuck open lol
Also lubricate the hole in which the latch goes into when closed, with some oil or anything really, it will shut alot easier and should also pop up easier too, thats what fixed mine didnt have to tighten or loosen anything....
Will try that too. Thanks mate. Hopefully one of those solve it
Also another question guys,
What globes does the headlight and the bright lights use? I'm gonna swap mine out as some are busted. Also anyone know what kind of bulb goes into the centre of the gauge? all the meters illuminate more than the speedo
Okay guise a little bit more help needed lol
You know the little green light on the ignition barrel? When in gods name is it meant to turn off? doesnt it usually signify theres an open door or something. Its just it never turns off and im afraid it'll drain my battery after sometime lol
Also, on the VS key with I think is an immobilizer, if you have the key facing towards the car what buttons are there? just asking as the key on mine has the buttons removed so I dont know whic button does what. When I press one button i hear two clicks but nothing happens. When I press the other button closer to me, the hazards flash once but again, noting happens. I'm guessing thats meant to be for the door locks as well? just wanted to know as I have no idea whats going on lol
When I shut the door the red light on the dash lights up and when i open the doors it turns off. But I have no clue how to and what to check to get the locking system to work. :/ halp me plz lol
Aaand, how do I bleed the power steering fluid/coolant fluid and where is the screw for the oil? gonna DIY replace all the fluids on the car.. also the brake fluid as theres not much left in the container. lol
I think thats about it for now
OH and lastly, I cant for the life of me move the screw that holds the bonnet spring :/ sprayed some loosener on it so hopefully I could move it by tomorrow
button closest too car . press once for drivers door too unlock, twice for all doors too unlock
other button , locks all doors
you can turn the key further anti clockwise in the drivers door too deadlock all doors , while all doors are dead locked the first button with turn on the interior light briefly, you will need to use the key too open the car when dead locked.
atleast thats how its setup on my series 2.
the immobiliser is key recognition as in, if your battery in your key head goes flat you cant turn it over even if they key fits without bypassing it by leaving it in the ignition with accesories on for about 45 minutes.
hope that helps.
Yeah guessing I'm gonna need a battery. Sadly though the buttons dont do shit aside from flash the repeaters. They dont really lock or unlock the car lol. I hear a click though so it could just be a fuse. Unless I have no central locking things on lol Will look into it further. Although I did find a fuse in the boot of the car. Nippon denso fuse or something dont know where it goes as of yet. Will have a look as well. I'm guessing its either for the doors or the a/c as the compressor doesnt seem to tick on.
did the ecu diagnostic and code 12 means I'm A ok!
my abs light is on so will try that later on![]()
your power steering is the wheel on the top left of your belt. there is a box connected to it and hanging off the box is a hose with an o clamp undo the o clamp a fair bit because the bit that comes out of the box and into the hose is very brittle and will break then you will have to either **** around getting it out or you might even need a new hose or follow the hose down and see if you can undo it down the bottom. the box that holds the fluid will most likely break at the hose.
with your poppin problem. the hole the greasy thing in the photos goes into has a cable behind it (you should be able to get to that by lifting a flap between the hole and the radiator) jiggle that up and down and it should pop into place if this is your problem do that every time you close your bonnet. or try tightening the cable with some split washers
Will try that later on. Gotta wait for my missus to come home before I can open my bonnet again. I think its the cable. it worked yesterday. and now its not.
put something with weight on the front of your bonnet that should do the trick.
The bonnet problem can be fixed by bending the spring in the hole that the bonnet dick goes into ,have someone pull on the bonnet cable and look in the hole if you can see any of the spring that your problem ,bend it until you cant see any of it while pulling on the cable and it will pop every time
that sounds like what Ive almost done. Will try that as well. Thanks man
if your having problems with your central locking, when you click it listen to see if it makes a ticking sound. if it doesnt there is probably a short or bad earths, if it does you need to renew the actuators etc.
Yeah it clicks for both lock and unlock. and the lights flash. once when the lock is up and twice when the lock is down. So I'm guessing its the actuators that I need to fix? but when I lock it from inside, press the lock on the alarm and open the door from the inside no alarm i think. ANd when i use the key the immobilizer dies.
Now my onyl problem is i cant get rid of code 47. hope its not the cas and is just leads. doesnt stall though
sorry to sound harsh but your vs seems like its been neglected a bit in its past so i wouldnt cross my fingers that its not the cas.
lol no worries. it was parked up a long time before I got it. So I'm still working on getting it back to a good condition lol
