is there a relay under the bonnet for the cig lighter?

had a look , cant find anything marked anything to do with cig lighter which keeps blowing fuses.
just asking because a problem was fixed yesterday by changing a relay which looked like it had nothing to do with the thing it was to do with :P

Pull the trim cover off the cig lighter insert and check that the lighter element thingy is securely screwed into its metal holder thingo. Also check the wiring. Mine was loose and by pushing it in to activate it it tripped out the entire electrics of the car somehow and blew the fuse

allready put a new one in after the fuses started blowing. the original was working fine until i held a lighter in for too long as it wouldnt down by itself.

You have a short somewhere. Check that the power wire hasn't worn through on the shift mechanism.

yeh figured as much, i guess ill have too rip the centre console out and look.

Take out your ashtray. Using the newly found hole grip the trim piece and firmly pull upwards. Unclip the wires leading to the cigarette lighter, unscrew the large nut and you are done.
