Hey guys I need some help, Recently got my VS Calais with an Pioneer deck and due to that being installed my steering wheel controls don'y function anymore...
Is there anyway at all of hooking them up do the new deck and make them function with the deck, If so I am REALLY interested in getting this working.
anytips/help would be gladly appreciated thanks

Oh also the bloke i got the car off sed the antenna doesnt work due to the head unit bein installed but I rekon the zip cord thing that connects to the antenna has snapped cos i can still hear the antenna motor run when i turn on and off the car.

1. It's called a CAT09 or a CAT10 mate, or Car Audio Technology. Have a look on the web, but it wires into the loom for the wheel controls and uses infra red signals to communicate to the deck itself. Available from JB HiFi and most good audio retailers.
2. If I recall, there isn't an option on Pioneer CD decks to control the antenna, and there's no wire for it in the harness if thats what you've used. I'd have no idea how to fix it lol sorry bud![]()

Steering wheel controlls are just a simple resistance ladder, they can be modified to work quite easily by anyone with basic electrical knowledge. This is assuming, though, that your headunit has provision for steering wheel controlls (as most newer pioneers do)
Yeah the module you need will be a CAT10, if youre not experienced with car stereos etc it might be an idea to take it to a shop and get them to install it.
As far as the antenna goes, youre more than likely on the money with the plastic gearing being snapped. These are replaceable (they come with a new mast).
