misfire and ticking noise?

hi everyone,

i have a vs berlina ecotec with a misfire and ticking noise!
I was wondering on peoples opinions on the matter,
it seems valve/lifter related? also i changed the plugs and leads andi doubt the injectors are at fault.
any sugestions would be much appreciated.

is there a way to test the lifters for fault?

Injectors can make loud ticking noises at times - maybe one is partially blocked or whatever making it tick louder and also causing the miss. Is the miss at idle....and regular...does it go away above idle...
Also try using a length of hose as a stethoscope and run it along the injectors to try and locate the noise.
The easiest way to check lifters is to remove the rocker cover and with the engine idling press a thick piece of dowel or the wooden handle of a hammer onto each valve rocker above the valve stem. If the tick disappears/alters you've found the culprit. This is a very messy operation by the way.
