could bad camber in the arse end dramtically effect my turning capabilities? I.e if i got around a round about at more then 10-15kmph in the wet my front end will just slide when i turn.
could my front end just be stuffed or would fixing the camber fix the handling in the front end? my fairlane handled better then this thing does and it was a 1980 model.
if it isnt the camber in the arse could someone point me where to look for problems cheers all

How is the car set up? If it is lower in the rear than the front it will cause understeer. Also, how are your tyres?
Excess camber in the rear wouldn't really affect how the front corners.

yea it might i would say the toe is out this needs kits unless you have vxii onwards (they have toe adjusters)
wouldn't think the camber would cause that but would be worth getting a camber kit if the camber is bad
yeah i will probably getting the camber kit soon as i get enough time off to get it done. I might take it in and see what they say about the front end. the tyres on the front have at least 80% tread on them still.

what oyur suffering from is under steer, cars are setup to do this from the factory (because it's safer then oversteer) however you seem to have it real bad.
excessive -ve camber will lead to bad tyre wear on the inside edge of the tyre, however this should infact improve handling around corners (check out a V8 supercar or any other race car for that matter)
sounds like your in need of a decent wheel alignment. for a commodore, try to get as much +ve caster as possible, slight negative camber and what ever the recommended toe settings are for the front. the rear generally doesn't have any adjustment but a camber kit should help the issues you having there
also, have you altered or adjusted anything on the sway bars front or rear? (this can greatly effect under/oversteer)

Sond like you have plastic 10 dollar 50 year old tyres to me, 15km/h in the wetserious? My VP is happy to go around 90 degree corners in the rain at near on 80km/h with power oversteer in the mid range of 2nd gear and it's pretty much the same car
haha there not dodgy 10 dolla tyres there bridgestones. i had a wheel allignment done just over a month ago. tyres are only about 4-5 months old. even in the dry the handlings horendous i had a to do a emergency turn was still doing around 60 to avoid accident and the front was sliden and screeching to the shathouse. was bout a 75-80 degree turn.
i haven't made any adjustments and i can't tell if anyone has but the front end is all good bushes shocks and everything. one brake disc is wharped but appart from that it is spot on. the back end is sitting down a tiny bit more then the front but not by much.

That be your problem, incorrect weight distribution. You have your thrust line running too low through the front of the car. There isn't enough weight on the front wheels. Are the rear springs proper lowered springs or have they been cut?

Yes there's a T corner near here that's a 80 km'h zone I can take that at 80 without slowing, I've been into the second lane at times on the exit but you can do it no problem, in the dry it's totally tame and doesn't even break loose, You could do it much faster but it's a 80 zone. Commodores might not be the best handling thing ever but they are not that bad![]()
