Painting Boot strip

Hey guys, I was thinking about painting the strip between the tailights on the boot white. Could I just use a rattle can? I would give it a clean with turps then a coat or 2 of prymer and then 2 or so coats of white. Would this come up allright?

I suppose it's the preparations that give the best result

How much is plastic prymer? Same as ordinary prymer?
