Hi People ive just recently brought some monroe gt gas reflex front and rear shocks ,front and rear propoly sway bar link kits i did my self for my vs s2 sedan with fe2 springs, a few days after installing them i got a severe case of front left clunking noises and after inspection i noticed my top strut on left hand side hitting the bonnet ,so i went and purchased some new top strut kits with bearing kit and replaced them ,car drove 100 better ,now a few days later the left hand side is a bit noisy again, upon visual inspection the top mount outer plate insulater is raised about 3 or 4 mm more than it was when i installed it,upon googling bump stop pictures and diagrams i noticed on another commodore (vz wagon) site that there is a washer that goes over the bump stop that sits on the shaft recess then the top strut mount rubber sits on top of this so the shock shaft doesnt push through the top mount bushing again is this corect for vs .please help it driving me nuts spendin heaps of dollars and getting no where.i think i might also need shortened bump stops .any suggestions would be great.i like to do stuff at home my self so i dont like going to shops to get taken for a ride $$$ wise.![]()
Here is an exploded view of the component which should help.

Yes there should be 2 washers - 1 above the rubber and one below.
and the washers should sit concave side away from rubber
Thanks guys i re-pulled both my struts today and with the help of your pictures and suggestions i had my top and bottom washer round the wrong way ,and all is good .i think i should go and buy a manual book for me car so i dont mess things up in future. Thanks for all your feed-back,much appreciated.![]()
