Default blockage in fuel line - appears to be fuel pressure regulator??

I have good fuel pressure up to the point where the fuel line goin into the pressure regulator... at which point there's a complete blockage, and the fuel pump is straining to pump fuel as its 100% blocked. I'm sure it's the pressure regulator as if i take it off, it's fine.

What would cause this? The vaccum line is connected..

well if i pull the fuel line off the regulator and turn the key, fuel pisses out.

I pulled the regulator off the fuel rail, connected the fuel line to it and turned the key, and theres a blockage...

Something doesn't add up... how are you testing this?

How can you have good fuel pressure up to the point of the fuel regulator? If you are somehow bypassing the fuel regulator to do the test you should have no pressure. If you do have pressure and then the blockage is somewhere else.

If you are testing the fuel pressure in the return line after the regulator, then there is a blockage in the return line - in which case this is your problem, not the regulator.

hmm fuel goes from the fuel pump, to the fuel pressure regulator, then through your fuel rail and through the return line back to the tank, is that right?

Because i have good fuel pressure from the fuel pump, up to where the hose goes into the regulator. After the regulator, nothing..

Or am i doing something completely wrong?

Everything you have said here is correct - regardless of where you measure, the pressure between the pump and the fuel regulator should be about the same.

There should be no pressure in the return line.

That said, I don't understand why you think there is a blockage?

Not trying to have a go at you - I just don't quite understand (I am a little slow sometimes).

because i can hear the fuel pump straining to pump fuel, and if i turn the key a few times eventually it gives up and stops. and nothing is coming out the other side of the fuel rail, where it should be going into the return line.

Then the car is not running? You are just turning the key to on?

When I turn my key to on, the pump comes on for a few seconds and stops. Once the car is running I can here the pump operating continuously.

If your car is running, then it sounds more like the pump is the problem.

if you have the fuel pump pumping into the reg it will be like that it has to go straight into the fuel rail it goes out the regulator not in

The Car's not running. Okay Delco so i have the hoses the wrong way around? The fuel should go into the fuel rail, and come out the other side at the regulator and back to the tank?

Yes, the pressure regulator is on the return fuel line.

The fuel pump line should first go to the Fuel Damper, (hidden under the throttle linkages) from there to the fuel rail (enters from the passenger's side), exits the driver's side via the pressure regulator and back to the tank.
