turning off?

was driving a mates vs last night and out of nowhere it just turned off, no lights, no power not even brake lights. it happened a few times while i was driving it, but would turn back on about 15 minutes later. any ideas?

Sounds like the crank angle sensor (CAS)...fairly common. Check by doing a fault code check (very easy) Instructions are:

Replace it. It's behind the harmonic balancer.

any idea on cost of replacing it?

um it's not your crank angle sensor that will not make your electrical system die...I would say it has a battery terminal loose or corroded causing everything to die when it loses contact .Also check all the earths coming off the battery.
