hey all .. im pretty sure i have a heap of **** in my heater core because when im driving i hear gergling from my heater..also when i put my foot down and then take my foot straight off the pedal i hear a hissing of air sound coming from my heater to...my cars duel fuel so as some of u no the gas is connected to the heater..if my heater core has air in it it is slowly getting into the engine......anyone have any advice towards fixing it? cheers.. by the way its a 1996 vs series 2 ecotec.
hows the gas connected to the heater? do you mean the heater hoses in the bay warm up the regulator? I wouldn't worry about it getting into your engine from there, more than likely you need to bleed your cooling system from the engine side 1st, I would suggest draining all coolant via the rad hoses, them take out thermostat and with the heater turned on hot (car not running obviously) put the hose down where the thermostat sits and run it through, you should start to see crappy water coming out the bottom rad hose. put all back together may aswell do a new thermostat while your there too, the best way of refilling I have found is to fill up until it slows down, then cut a coke bottle in half and use it as a funnel and put it in the radiator neck holding it firmly fill with water, run the car till the thermostat opens, (usually when both hoses are hot to touch) then carefully release the coolant bleed, a little brass valve on top of the thermostat housing, once all the pressure is gone as there will be a fair bit remove your radiator cap and do the coke bottle trick again, a couple times after each time seeing if anymore air comes out the bleed valves. I've probably over done this but each time I do it this is how I do it and it seems to stop the gurgling heater.
