Gearbox question

OK, really sorry for being a noob here, but do the V6 and V8 auto's use the same box?? From what I can gather they seem to be the same box, except maybe a different torque converter? Amirite?

might be sumthing to do with the length of the imput shaft being different

I think the TQ is larger and they fit a deep pan sump which hold more fluid. Not sure about the input shaft as that matches the torque converter which bolts to the flex plate so I don't think that would matter (but I could be wrong)
