    Default fuel gauge problem

past few weeks we have had a issue with the vs and fuel guage not working,
    just stopped all a sudden

its factory fitted gas which also uses the clusters fuel gauge when switch from either fuel
it has been up graded too level3 cluster which had been fine for past few years now

so to get me by while i was focusing on my vl i was checking the fuel levels digatally to see whats in the tank
but then thats stopped too and said there full on max...... check the manual gauge on the actual gas tank and that doesnt show the fuel which the cluster has
DTE is just saying flat 400km and not moving

i dont think it would be the fuel sensor in the petrol tank as it doesnt work on the gas either, it would be strange for both to fail at same time too.

would this be the cluster more then likly or is there something else i could look at??

i have access too a spare cluster if need be too try,

    cheers

If it's saying full tank - press and hold set button to show how much the tank has in it.

If it says full then I'd say the sender is at full ohms or voltage - what ever they use to work LOL.

Or the voltage regulator is caktus and the other cluster will tell you this in an instant.

I have a heap of spares to fix anything within the cluster if you need anything.

It's almost as if the sender is stuck on full AND the regulator has a cracked solder joint. Will it move if you tap the dash?

The regulator in the cluster tends to fail a little more each time rather than instand dead. (is solder joint)

So could be a risistor thingy gone legs up
