Thumbs down getting very hot with a/c on

as everyone would probably know by now its a V8. normal cruising on the highway it sits round halfway yesterday it was 35 degrees and sat just over half. i switched the a/c on and it went well over 3/4s before i noticed and switched it off.
i checked the coolant levels and everything and everything is spot on. what should i be looking for? Summers coming and i will definately be needing the a/c. cheers guys

I didn't think the V8's had thermostatic (electric) radiator fans...don't they have an engine driven clutch fan?....plus an electric fan in front of the radiator for the A/C.???

Check ya theromostat as well. With the AC system not used much during winter, it helps to check it all out before summer comes to get it working properly

hey mate im having the same prob just not as bad! mine sits at the 2nd- 3rd notch (from C) in 30c but then turn the aircon on sits bout the same till u stop, then slowly goes up. i did a test the otha day in drive sitting in the drive way it went to 5th notch and stayed there for 6 mins, turned the aircon on and left it in drive it went to 7th notch (3/4) in about 5 mins and then starter only slowly creeping up after another 5 mins, easy way to cool her down in the heat is at the lights put her in nutral idle her up to bout 1500- 1750 and it draws alot more air than idle does and watch the temp go down fairly quik,

also i was looking at the thermo fan for the ac the other day and it doesnt really draw much might be worth changing it over with a more power ful one, also my aircon radiator looks a bit damaged as in the fins anrt all straight which wouldnt help prob
