    20W-50 is Penrite HPR30.

Wont hurt to use HPR 15 though, which is a 15W-50.

that was the main viscosity available back then, now these days oils have gotten better and fully sythetics are mainstream as well, 10w 40 would be fine, i use 15w 50 mobil 1 or 10w 60 castrol both are fully synthetics to cover a wide range and good quality oil, just depends what you want to spend.

I use penrite 20w60 Gas even though my car isnt gas. The gas oil has the extra lubricant so it cant hurt to put it in petrol engines.

i used to work at a holden dealer and we used 20w 50 in anything older than VX as older engines need the thicker viscosity to prolong engine life

I would guess that oil for gas cars has no detergent? since they run alot cleaner and don't wear out anyway (no fuel washing the oil away) so if that's the case they probably aren't the best ideal. I run diesel oil in mine now :P for the exact oppisite reason
