hey,my vr starts to hessitate and surge when you boot it ONLY when it gets down to a 1/4 of a tank and under??? is it possible the fuel pump could be in the wrong position?any ideas or thoughts would be great, cheers
yeh could be fuel pump not giving enough pressure when lower level, could also be the filter balloon that hangs inside the tank off the pump intake which is full of crap in the bottom.
yeah, could be worth changing pumps.thanks for the advice mate.
Shaneo, I have replaced my pump and filter and balloon filter on pump....... same thing buddy as you buddy!!!!!! replaced coils.... definately a feul issue around 1/4 tank! i have spoken to a couple of mates...... waiting on reply bud.
I think the problem is that the fuel pump sits in the "swirl pot" ......this pot sits at about the 1/4 fuel tank level so when the tank is above 1/4 it is under fuel - however, once below 1/4 tank, the swirl pot which is no longer immersed in fuel gets filled by the fuel return hose which directs return fuel to the pot.
This return line can get damaged or not re-installed correctly when the pump is replaced and the result is that when under 1/4 of a tank you may suffer from fuel starvation when accelerating or cornering.
From memory, if this fuel return line is broken the only fix is another tank......
Do a search on this forum anyway as it's been covered before.
thanks mate, what you said makes sense.i guess the next step is to rip out the fuel pump, may aswell replace it and check that return line.hopefully i dont have to replace the tank.......thanks again guys for your help, cheers
sometimes its the swirl pot dislodged from the tank and sometimes its cracked
I tune the oldschool way fear on the passengers face and knuckle colour cant go wrong
tabbacco is still my favorite vegetable
thanks mate,so the only way of finding that out is to rip the tank out?
