Ok Had a problem with stalling when putting in to gear...everytime i put the car in to reverse or drive it would stall but would drive normal...put it in to the machanic they said it was the idle step motor they said they clean it and it was all good...no its not.....its doing the same thing BUT i can get it into gear but the revs drop low and sometimes stalls while driving please help as i have spent way tooo much money on this car....thank in advance
so it now jsut stalls in reverse instead of being in drive? BUT sometimes stalls when you drive along the street/road?
At what speed does it stall when your driving along the street/road?
dont worry, il start a ride thread soon.
ok i can get it into every gear but idles very low and sometimes stalls and another thing when i go to start it i need to put a bit of throttle because it wont start by it self where as before they clean the idle step motor i didnt have a prob i know im not explaining it correct but thats the only way i can explain wats going on it just stalls everytime i go to put it in to drive or reverse and it sometimes stalls when driving it i can be going fast or slow it doesnt matter it just stalls as i said i have had it into 2 mechanics and they cant tell me shit
any dash lights on? after you get it into D and stop at say a set of lights does it still idle like crap? check your vacuum lines for any cracks or whistling noises, and also check the vacuum tank, its under the metal where the airbox sits, so you have to look up under the bumper/guard and you can see it.
i had a similar problem with my vr stato.have u done a code check?do that first.mine ran rough and kept stalling, problem was the map sensor, changed that and its perfect now.so do the code check man.do u know how to do that?
FYI...its a dual fuel car if that helps at all ..and have no idea how to map it.... a mate said the same thing but dont know how...thanks
as far as lights on the dash the oil light comes on just before it stalls
yes it does stall on both
Locate the diagnostic connector under the the steering column on the drivers side.
Grab a paper clip and bridge pins number 5 & 6 'black' and 'white with black stripes' respectively on the ALDL (Assembly Line Diagnostic Link) connected which are located on the top row counting from the left.
Jump into the drivers seat and turn the key twice (so lights are up on the instrument cluster).
If you bridged out the correct wires 'Check Engine Lamp' will be flashing.
The flashes are divided into 2 groups with roughly a second between each. You can read the flashes as follows:
The first series of flashes is tens, so for example lets say the first flash simply flashes once, this means the code is 10. After the pause (~1 second) a second series of flashes will appear, if this number is 2, the code it is spitting out is 12 which means everything is fine.
Another example just so you're sure
The first series of flashes you count is 4 meaning 40, the second series of flashes is 3. Adding the 40 and the 3 will give you a code of 43 which means the Knock sensor circuit is experiencing problems.
Each code the computer picks up is repeated three times with ~3 second pause between, so its wise to sit there to make sure there isn't any problems it has picked up.
Once you are finished turn off your ignition and remove the paper clip. It is important to note not to drive the car around while have wires are bridged as this will prevent new codes from being logged.
Any questions or queries please feel to contact me at anytime.
Checking the computer for codes is used in conjunction with the computer Fault Codes located here
