    Default Exhaust too loud

    hi all,

EPA reckon my exhaust is too loud - 95decibels when it should be under 90.

my system was modified by previous owner, they removed the second muffler and the twin pipes and made it single pipe straight from the cat and they installed a hotdog after the muffler.

what can i do to still have my car loud but stay under the 90 decibels?

my friend has suggested to not go to an exhaust place and look for a system that is designed specifically for my car as that should be under the 90!..

    any thoughts?

    cheers

thanks, but unfortunately it doesn't help me any further.

i'm happy to make it quieter to pass and then change back however am looking for a more permanent option that will have my car humming but still being under that 90.

i can't understand how a harley can make my car rattle when it's 3 houses away yet mine is too loud!!, both can be driven on a suburban st at 3am!! noise level should be the damn same!

Im sure those harleys are not roadworthy in the sense of the exhausts, but what do bikies care right?

A blocked air filter helps, as does high octane fuel with octane boost.

harley's will be way over as they have no muffler, my dirt bike is louder than 90Db, my SWB Patrol has no mufflers and my ute won loudest ute at a show and read error on the db meter. I eventually got reported to the EPA and had to change it back.

Dude i am smack bang in the middle of what you have right now. Got my notice last week.

I bought a V6 statesman exhaust, had it cut up and modified to fit my car. Comes in around 84 decibel. If your car is a V8, it will drive like a sack of shit, it will feel restricted as hell, but, it works. Had mine done this morning. It sounds like a V6.

But a V6 statesman IRS exhaust with the middle muffler and rear resi from the wreckers for $50, fit it up, and you will be fine.

i'm still waiting on feedback from the EPA, but i don't think they did the test right and are trying to scare me, but a V6 exhaust may be the go..

and yeah mines V8 - is there anything else?? :-P

once i get my notice then i'll work out what the go is from there!.

    thanks mate
