how to ????
Hey There guys
My car running rough and its alread had a petrol cleaner through it clean spark plugs are brand new what should i be doing to make it run smooth again????
how do i open up the throttle body and clean that ???
its a vs wagon 97

Could be a multitude of things, try doing an error check first, to see if any of the sensors are not working properly. Also check your spark plug leads, as they could have excessive resistance, causing poor running. Other things to look at are the oxygen sensors, and the idle control valve, which can be cleaned with carby cleaner. Depending on how far the car has travelled, it might be worth actually getting the fuel injectors pulled out and ultrasonically cleaned by a professional outfit.Originally Posted by Ryaz11

Any competent mechanic should be able to diagnose what is causing the rough running, even though you have used the fuel cleaner, the build up might be so bad in the injectors that the cleaner didn't do anything and that they actually need to be pulled out for refurbishment.

I'd replace the ignition leads if they look old as well. Also check for any vacuum leaks as the slightest leak can upset the idle. Maybe also buy a workshop manual so you can do some of this work yourself - mechanics can charge up to $120 an hour. Is your car high mileage?
You might want to check the coil packs, cured mine when i replaced the dodgy one.
