    Smile diff probs? VS V8

hey i have a 97 VS 5ltr auto... i bought it the other day, swapped my shitty vectra for it plus some cash. Bargain! it runs hell good except for a whiny sound from the rear i know its the diff, but the performance does not seem to be affected. I tried my first sit brake today and it done it with no probs smoked up with both wheels. It acts as though its a locked diff if i plant my foot from the lights it will take off sideways a little.

Can anyone recommend how to get rid of the whine sound.. and y the diff doesnt seem to be acting up, it just sounds that way, or will it get worse over time, the dealer told me the diff should last a year in its current state. I sincerely doubt that espesh with my lead foot.

And i have an exhaust leak somewhere near the front of the car should this be attended to asap? cheers i know theres a lot of writing here but yeah ]

I had the same thing when i got my car, turned out the be the diff bearings.I had second had ones put in and the bloke said they'd have to be changed in 6 months, its not been over 2.5 years ago and its still running fine. I had the whine, car spun both wheels on the spot and went a tad sideways at times off the mark, sweet i thought from a single spinner. Get it fixed and the car will feel better.

Diff bearings were gonna cost me a few hundred all up.Checking oil is simple, pull out the dipstick and if the oil is really black, change it,if still kinda clearish, should be ok
